Originating in St. Louis as the Palmer Drug Abuse Program in 1982, the program changed its name to Crossroads in 1986. (We assume the name changed happened because Bob was removed by the board). That same year Frank Szachta became the program director. Around that same time, a new treatment center owned by John Cates, and named Forum Hospital opened in West St. Louis County.

Shortly after the opening of Forum, two smaller branch satellites also owned by John Cates popped up as "JCA" in North St. Louis County and South County. Kids who underwent treatment at Forum were regularly taken to meetings alternating between groups. Kids from Forum Hospital also went to outpatient therapy in North County, as well as West County. Staff meetings between Crossroads and Forum Hospital were held together and although these two companies were actually independent from one another, they were also interdependent in their workings with staff, all facilities and clients in the Hospital and outpatient therapy.

Frank took the company private in 1991. Then sometime after 1995 Frank opened two additonal satellite offices; one in Kansas City and Columbia, Missouri.

Today Forum Hospital along with the North and South County branches have long since closed. The main office for The Crossroads Program resides in Chesterfield at 626 Cepi Dr. Chesterfield, MO. 63005
